Ajax Through to Last 16 of UEFA Europa Conference League

Kenneth Taylor's Extra-Time Goal Seals Victory

Ajax have advanced to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa Conference League after a hard-fought 3-2 aggregate victory over AEK Athens.

The Dutch giants took a 1-0 lead into the second leg at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, courtesy of a goal from Davy Klaassen in the first leg. AEK Athens leveled the tie on aggregate through Levi Garcia's goal in the 57th minute, but Kenneth Taylor restored Ajax's lead just six minutes later.

The game remained tense until the final whistle, with both teams pushing for a winner. However, it was Ajax who found the decisive goal in extra time, with Taylor scoring his second of the night to send the Dutch side through.

Ajax will now face Union Berlin in the last 16, with the first leg taking place in Germany on March 9.

The victory is a major boost for Ajax, who have endured a difficult season domestically. Erik ten Hag's side are currently fourth in the Eredivisie, six points behind leaders Feyenoord.

However, Ajax will be hoping that their success in the Europa Conference League can provide a springboard for a strong finish to the season.
